At Coombe Wood Golf Club we welcome juniors of all ages and standards to come and have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf.
We currently have a number of junior members aged 8 to 18 with the opportunity to compete in regular weekly competitions and inter-club team matches. In the summer months groups play on Friday evenings, while matches are played against other Surrey club teams on a home and away basis.
We hold one open competition a year at the club, which is the September Junior Open, an 18 hole scratch and handicap medal competition, with winners qualifying for the SCGU Junior Order of Merit.
We have a dedicated team of adults to ensure our golfers are looked after and encouraged. Over the last several years, Coombe Wood has produced many fine young players including former English Amateur champion and European Tour professional, James Heath (pictured).
Juniors are permitted to play at any time, with exceptions at weekends and Bank Holidays; when play is limited to after 2pm in summer and 1pm in winter months (when the clocks change).
There are also several regular weekday events to avoid:
|Monday||8:00-8:30 and 9:00-9:30 (Froggs)|
|Tuesday||9:00-12:30 (Ladies competitions followed by Men’s mid-week roll up)|
|Wednesday||8:00-8:30 and 9:00-9:30 (Froggs)|
|Thursday||12:00-12:30 (Men’s mid-week roll up)|
|Friday||8:00-8:30 and 9:00-9:30 (Froggs)|
If in doubt ask first Phil or Chris in the Pro’s Shop or Matthew.
Note – any junior member under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Children aged 12 and over must be accompanied until the club’s Professionals have approved that the child is safe and competent to play on their own
